📋 CASE OVERVIEW

Lakeeta "Keeta" Vaccaro Hill is suing her husband, NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill, in a civil jury trial in Miami-Dade County, Florida. She says eight incidents happened behind closed doors during their marriage, between January 2024 and April 2025, and she is asking the jury to find him liable and award her money damages. He denies every one of them. Nobody in this courtroom is charged with a crime, and Tyreek Hill was never arrested over any of the eight. These are allegations, not findings. She carries the burden, and she has to prove each claim by the greater weight of the evidence.

That leaves the jury with one hard question. On one side is her account, told now, under oath. On the other are the records made at the time. The defense says officers from three police departments came, found no injury and made no arrest, that her doctors asked her directly whether she was being hurt at home and wrote down that she said no, and that the eight allegations were added to her divorce petition seven days after a ruling went against her. Her lawyers answer that it happened in private, to a woman trying to hold together a marriage to a high-profile athlete. Her eight allegations of what happened behind closed doors, against his records made at the time.

The jury will answer that question. Mine is whether they get to answer it fairly. On Day 1, before a single juror sat down, Judge Spencer Eig said he would exclude a 2014 allegation involving Crystal Espinal, the mother of three of Hill's children, "in a criminal case over a similar allegation." He told the plaintiff's side that what they had just argued was "the definition of propensity." Then he let it in, with some questions cut. Not long after, he kept out the phone calls her mother recorded with Hill, which his side says he never agreed to. One ruling lets in an old allegation from another relationship. The other keeps out recordings of Hill himself. Is the line in the right place, in both directions? We are not here to decide who is telling the truth. We are here to watch whether this process gives her a fair hearing, gives him the same, and holds the plaintiff to her burden.
